Vitaly Katkov —

Vitaly Katkov is the Vice-Rector for the Concert Activity of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Vitaly is renown Russian producer, concert manager and artistic director. He is the Honorary Worker of Culture, holder of honorable mentions by Deputy PM, Minister of Culture, Governor of Tver Region and the Order of St. Stanislav III awarded by Russian Imperial House.

Vitaly graduated from the Central Music School in Moscow and the Moscow International University. In 1994 – 2002 Vitaly was a director chamber orchestra Russian Camerata at Tver Academic Philharmonic Society. During his work in there he made many significant projects such as International Festival Music and Diplomacy and organized concerts at Kremlin, Ministry of International Affairs and numerous embassies in Moscow. He took part in organization of the International J.S. Bach Festival in Tver in 1995-2002, Festival Musical Kremlin and other events with Moscow Philharmonic Society and Russian Fund of Culture.

In 2003 Vitaly was invited to take director position at the most famous State Academic Symphony Orchestra ”Evgeny Svetlanov” where he worked until 2011. During this period of time Vitaly organized and produced concerts at such prestigious concert halls as: Avery Fisher Hall (New York, US), Suntory Hall (Tokyo, Japan)), Symphony Hall (Osaka, Japan), Usher Hall (Edinburg, Scotland), Alte Oper (Frankfurt, Germany), Gasteig (Munich, Germany), Tonhalle (Zurich, Switzerland) and concert tours at USA, Japan, China, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey, Belarus, Moldova, Latvia and Lithuania.

In 2012 – 2013 he worked as a director of the Russian State Symphony Cinema Orchestra.

In 2013 Vitaly was invited to join the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory staff as the Head of the Concert and Artistic Department. Since 2014 he became the Vice-Rector for the Concert Activity. In this most famous Russian musical institution with rich heritage and historical traditions Vitaly develops new ways of concert activities and international collaborations. One of these ways was organization of multi genre concerts such as the first cinema and concert performance of the Russian movie Taboo in 2015 with the symphony orchestra. The idea of this concert was to revive the tradition of 1920th when the Moscow Conservatory made cinema performances accompanied by pianist and the orchestra at the Great Hall.

Vitaly also took part on organization of Oscar Winner The Artist cinema performance with the orchestra conducted by Ernst van Tiel. Under his supervision Moscow Conservatory organizes series of Disney Concerts.

As a vice – rector Vitaly actively develops cooperation and collaboration between Moscow Conservatory and famous concert organisations, orchestras and soloists which makes Conservatory one of the major cultural center in Russia. During his work in there Moscow Conservatory became a prestigious concert venue for many significant projects such as: XV Tchaikovsky Competition, winner’s concert of Grand Opera TV show broadcasted by Russian television network Russia – K, First International Grand Piano Competition and many other events.
